we ask for Ric McIver. Thank you for his commitment to public service and
what he has done over the years as the MLA for Calgary-Hays. Give him
wisdom and discernment in his dealings with the government, in his marriage,
and in his family. May you use all his experience in secular employment
into his public life and may he be graced with favour from his constituents and
party members alike.
Ric McIver was elected to his second term as the Member of the Legislative Assembly for Calgary-Hays on May 5, 2015.
He currently serves as a member of the Special Standing Committee on Members' Services.
During his first term he served as Minister of Jobs, Skills, Training and Labour. He also served as a member of the Treasury Board and as a member of the Government’s committee on Operations.
As well he had served as Minister of Infrastructure and Minister of Transportation.
Mr. McIver served the residents of Calgary-Hays as the alderman on Calgary city council for ward 12 from 2001 to 2010, a span of three terms. In that time he served on the board of the Alberta Urban Municipalities Association, the Calgary Police Commission and the Metropolitan Calgary Foundation. He also served as chair of the Calgary Housing Company.
Mr. McIver became an Albertan on July 26, 1981. He has worked in the food industry in many different roles, including national sales manager and sales and marketing manager of different organizations. He has also owned and operated a food distribution and marketing wholesale business.
He is married to Christine, the founder and CEO of the Kids Cancer Care Foundation of Alberta. Between them they have four children and two grandchildren, all living in Calgary.
