Honourable Brian Mason - MLA for Edmonton-Highlands-Norwood

Heavenly Father, may Your blessing be upon our Honourable MLA representing the people of Edmonton – Highlands – Norwood, Mr. Brian Mason.  Thank You for his faithful service in our Alberta Government and we pray that You would continue to surround him with those who will assist him effectively carrying out his role.  May he and those close to him experience Your peace and kindness and we request this in Your Name, Father God, Amen.

Brian Mason was sworn in as the Minister of Infrastructure and as the Minister of Transportation on May 24, 2015.

He was first elected as a Member of the Legislative Assembly for Edmonton-Highlands-Norwood in a 2000 by-election.

He was re-elected in the provincial general election of March 12, 2001, and was subsequently appointed House Leader of the New Democrat caucus and critic responsible for human resources, finance and agriculture.

On September 18, 2004, Mr. Mason became leader of the New Democrats, a position he retired in 2014. Mr. Mason was elected to his third term as a Member of the Legislative Assembly for Edmonton-Highlands-Norwood on November 22, 2004, his fourth term on March 3, 2008, and his fifth term on April 23, 2012.

Mr. Mason previously served as a member of the Special Standing Committee on Members’ Services, the Standing Committee on Alberta Heritage Savings Trust Fund, the Standing Committee on Resource Stewardship, the Standing Committee on Public Accounts, the Standing Committee on Resources and Environment, the Standing Committee on Government Services and the Standing Committee on the Economy.

Before his election to the Alberta Legislature, Mr. Mason served as city of Edmonton councillor for ward 3. He was first elected in October 1989 and won three subsequent civic elections. As a member of city council for 11 years Mr. Mason gained a reputation as a tough and effective voice for his constituents. During this time Mr. Mason chaired the non-profit Housing Board and served on the Taxi Commission, Library board and Northlands board.

Following his political science studies at the University of Alberta he became politically active, serving as the executive director of the Alberta Federation of Students from 1977 to 1979.

Mr. Mason has lived in Edmonton-Highlands-Norwood for over 20 years with his wife, Karin, and their two sons, Peter and Alex.

Mr. Brian Malkinson - MLA for Calgary-Currie

Thank You Lord, for Calgary – Currie MLA Mr. Brian Malkinson and his passion as he represents the people of his constituency.  We pray for him to experience renewed strength and joy as he serves in his many responsibilities as seeks to meet the various needs of Albertans.  Give him wisdom and insight to know what he should attend to today to be most effective.  May he find opportunity to spend time doing the recreational sports he enjoys.  Amen. 

Brian Malkinson was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta as the Member for the constituency of Calgary-Currie on May 5, 2015.

He currently serves as a member of the Standing Committee on Public Accounts. He previously served as a member of the Standing Committee on Alberta Heritage Savings Trust Fund.

Mr. Malkinson is originally from British Columbia. He obtained a degree in science from Simon Fraser University, where he was, for a time, the president of the Interactive Arts and Technology Student Union.

He is employed in the heavy-equipment industry as a salesman at a heavy-duty engine supplier since making a career change from working as a designer/analyst for Internet start-ups.

Mr. Malkinson currently resides in Calgary, where he enjoys car restoration, music, art and recreational sports.

Mr. Don MacIntyre - MLA for Innisfail-Sylvan Lake

We are thankful today for MLA Don MacIntyre and the role he has in our legislature as he serves the constituents of Innisfrail – Sylvan Lake.  We ask for Your wisdom Lord as he sits on the various committees and also meets with Albertans.  We pray also for good health and many opportunities to be with friends and family.  In Your Name Lord,  Amen.

 

Don MacIntyre was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, representing the constituency of Innisfail-Sylvan Lake, on May 5, 2015.

Mr. MacIntyre is a member of the Standing Committee on Resource Stewardship.

Prior to serving with the Legislative Assembly, he spent five years as a part-time instructor/curriculum developer for the alternative energy program at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT), and between 2010 and 2012 he worked as the chief technical officer for a private overseas geothermal company. As well, he has over a decade of experience in the field of marketing.

He also has extensive committee experience to his credit, including three years as a technical subcommittee member for the Canadian Standards Association and four years for the Alberta Geothermal Energy Association, of which he is a cofounder. During his time with the Alberta Geothermal Energy Association he served in the roles of vice-chair and chair.

Mr. MacIntyre holds accreditation as an instructor, installer and certified geoexchange designer from the International Ground Source Heat Pump Association.

Originally from North Battleford, Saskatchewan, he, along with his wife, Megan, now calls Sylvan Lake home.

Ms. Robyn Luff - MLA for Calgary-East

Heavenly Father, we are thankful for Ms. Robyn Luff and her involvement on the committee on families and communities.  May her active involvement as well with the Alberta Teacher’s association be an asset to solving complex community and family issues.  We pray for refreshment for her and joy in her service to our province.  Bless her family in Jesus Name.  Amen.

Robyn Luff was elected as the Member of the Legislative Assembly for Calgary-East on May 5, 2015.

Ms. Luff serves as a member of the Standing Committee on Families and Communities and the Special Standing Committee on Members' Services.

Prior to her election Ms. Luff was a teacher with the Calgary board of education.

Ms. Luff earned a bachelor of science with a major in biology from the University of Victoria and a bachelor of education (master of teaching) from the University of Calgary. She also took part in Next Up, a progressive leadership program for university alumni from all across Canada.

Ms. Luff was an active member of the Alberta Teachers' Association and has also volunteered as an educator for a number of nature conservation organizations in Calgary.

Mr. Rod Loyola - MLA for Edmonton-Ellerslie

We give thanks today for MLA Rod Loyola Father God and his commitment to the constituents of Edmonton – Ellerslie.  We pray for diligence to see what he has in mind to accomplish for his constituents and the people of Alberta.  We pray for strength and health for him as well as protection for him, his wife, Johanna and children Daniel and Alonso. Amen.

Rod Loyola was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta as the Member for the constituency of Edmonton-Ellerslie on May 5, 2015.

He currently serves as a member of the Standing Committee on Privileges and Elections, Standing Orders and Printing and as a member of the Standing Committee on Public Accounts. Mr. Loyola is also a member of the Select Special Ethics and Accountability Committee.

Prior to serving with the Legislative Assembly, Mr. Loyola had been heavily involved with the University of Alberta, first having completed a bachelor of arts in 1999, later becoming employed as an academic program coordinator and student adviser for University of Alberta International. He was then elected President of the Non-Academic Staff Association, the union that represents support staff that work at the University of Alberta.

His volunteer and community involvement includes serving in various roles for the Knottwood Community League, as well as on the Post-Secondary Education Task Force for Public Interest Alberta, and on the board of Friends of Medicare.

Mr. Loyola has lived in Edmonton for over 35 years and currently resides in Millwoods with his wife, Johanna, and their children, Daniel and Alonso.

Mr. Todd Loewen - MLA for Grande Prairie-Smoky

Lord God, today we pray for MLA Todd Loewen.  We pray for health, strength and Your wisdom as he serves the residents of Grande Prairie – Smoky Lake and works with colleagues in the legislature.  We pray also for a balance in his busy schedule and persona life.  Protect him and his family.  Amen. 

Todd Loewen was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, representing the constituency of Grande Prairie-Smoky, on May 5, 2015.

Mr. Loewen serves as deputy chair of the Standing Committee on Resource Stewardship.

Prior to serving with the Legislative Assembly, Mr. Loewen owned a small outfitting business and an operational farm.

Born and raised in rural Alberta, Mr. Loewen grew up in a farming family. He graduated from Hillside junior senior high school with an advanced high school diploma, and after five years in the workforce he went on to become self-employed as an entrepreneur and farmer.

Mr. Loewen and his wife, Teena, have five children: Travis, Ty, Taylor Tianna and Tenea. They reside in the constituency of Grande Prairie-Smoky, where Mr. Loewen has been an active volunteer for the Rotary Club of Grande Prairie, the Chamber of Commerce, their local church, a number of business organizations and many other community activities.

Mrs. Jessica Littlewood - MLA for Fort Saskatchewan-Vegreville

Thank You Father in Heaven for MLA Jessica Littlewood.  We pray that You will inspire her with creative solutions for the many challenges that she faces on a daily basis.  As she meets with the constituents of Fort Saskatchewan – Vegreville may she be filled with compassion and wisdom to meet the diverse needs of both urban and rural settings.  Bless her with good health and daily strength.  Amen. 

Jessica Littlewood was elected as the Member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta for Fort Saskatchewan-Vegreville on May 5, 2015.

She currently serves chair of the Standing Committee on Privileges and Elections, Standing Orders and Printing and as a member of the Standing Committee on Private Bills and the Standing Committee on Families and Communities.

Prior to her election, Mrs. Littlewood was employed as an executive assistant with the accounting firm Ernst and Young. She previously worked at Goodwill Industries of Alberta as a supervisor, then as assistant manager, while also working as a nursing attendant at the Good Samaritan Society.

Mrs. Littlewood has been a volunteer with a number of charitable organizations in the community, including Edmonton's Food Bank.
