Today
we thank You Lord for Honourable Marlin Schmidt and the leadership he provides
in our province. We ask that You lead and guide him in his role as Minister of
Advanced Education and provide him with everything he needs to make decisions
that will help the people of Alberta. We declare Your blessing and protection
over Marlin Schmidt.
Marlin Schmidt was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, on May 5, 2015. He represents the constituency of Edmonton-Gold Bar. Since February 2, 2016, Hon. Schmidt has also served as Minister of Advanced Education. Hon. Schmidt sits on three Government committees: the Legislative Review Committee, the Social Policy Committee and the Climate Leadership Policy Committee.
Hon. Schmidt’s background prior to serving in the Legislature was in site remediation and hydrogeology. From 2008 to 2015 he worked for Alberta Environment as a soil and groundwater contamination specialist.
Hon. Schmidt has a master of science degree in applied environmental geosciences (Eberhard Karls Universität in Tübingen, Germany) and a bachelor of science degree (Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario).
